      Anne,

I would be willing to send an e-mail requesting the Peterhead burial CD. Do you have an e-mail address available?

      Hi all

I am a member of the ANESFHS and would be very interested in purchasing a CD of the Peterhead burial lair books. I intend to contact them by e-mail to register an interest - perhaps more people should and we'll see what happens

Anne's correct if you're looking for Statutory Records, but the Burial Records are so far not on-line. The good thing used to be that they would let you look through the Lair Register books (Old Cemetery) as long as you wanted as long as you were not expecting them to help you with the search. It was fascinating because the books for the old cemetery are extremely well compiled and are proper Lair Registers (unlike Constitution Street where there are no Lair Registers...only individual burial records).

Without being too critical (because the Old Cemetery records are really very good considering how far back they go), there are omissions (I always wondered if that had something to do with the old Chapel vs. the Kirk prejudice) and in one or two cases they say someone's buried there and they are not (Classic example, the well-known whaling captain George Simpson).

I wouldn't object to say a one off £10 fee per visit, but an hourly rate of £10 is a bit much.

It's time the Family History Society published their CD !!

      Good Luck to All..................Alex Ritchie
