  • Re: Thoughts on tarantulas

Greetings Phil, Greetings, group. It was probably about a decade ago that I received my first tarantula. She (as I have since determined) was a Chilean rose

Stan:   Thank you for your post.  I wanted to mention that when I lived in North Alabama, I never encountered as many Lactrodectus mactans Southern Black

  • Re: Tarantula's that I've kept

Thanks, Herman, for sharing.   It has been my experience that the Avicularia avicularia Guyana Pink toe tarantula are one the hardest to keep.  I love this

Group Description

This site is intended to provide a place where members can share and post information on Pet Tarantulas - Although basic tarantula keeping and care is simple, it is essential for keepers to discuss their experiences. Hopefully, Groups such as this one can help educate new owners and avoid situations such as the lady who threw a perfectly healthy tarantula away thinking it was dead when it was merely on its back during its MOLT. (Molting is the process that allows tarantulas to grow - it is oftentimes a stressful near-death experience and tarantulas may 'appear' dead as they MOLT) This site is for anyone who either has or is interested in having a tarantula - it is NOT just for women, It is NOT just for Canadians, Australians or British, and you don't have to be a NERD to join or visit. I tell you, some people's children....Tarantula Keeping has become a hobby for more people than ever - sure there are MORE people in the world, BUT, the tarantula keeping hobby has grown enormously FAST in recent years-THANKS to the availability of these fascinating creatures and THANKS to individuals dedicated to breeding and promoting captive bred tarantulas. Please join and share your experiences with your Pet Tarantula.
