Why don't they just take the mirror box out and keep the flange back distance the same?

      like the Pentax k-x and the entry level Olympus and even the Nikons and
      Canons are not that big. And it would save all the hassle of adapting
      existing lenses to a shorter flange back distance.

      They could get rid of the optical viewfinder and put a small EVF on it
      or maybe just use the LCD on the back and forget about the viewfinder
      altogether.

      There would be plenty of room inside the camera for other goodies like
      a big battery or a GPS/three axis compass or even a phone. Phones have
      cameras -- why not cameras with phones?
