Today I visited the fort Copacabana here in Rio de Janeiro. It is an
      almost 100 years old fortification.

as now usual for me in 3 versions : QT , Flash and Deval

The cannons were made by Krupp in Germany

here some more tests of a Nikon D300 under very low light conditions
      with up to 2000 ISO

      D300 ISO 2000 1/15 F5.6 monopod 4 shots Nikkor8/2.8 no noise reduction

this I will remake again in PS because the light was much lesser
      than it appears here.

              Williy,
if I read your exif right :

              <crs:Shadows>9</crs:Shadows>

              ---

this means you set Luminanc NR to 90 , Color NR to 28 and
increased th Brightness by +50 and Contrast by +25

              Is this correct ??

I can imagine that is was relly dark in there.
The camera did extremly good - about the D80 with 640/800 ISO,
                  so its a big increase.
Wonder how a Canon 5D would do.
                  Ciao

As very low light photography is concerned, the panographers could
learn a lot from the astronomers community.
For instance Christian Buil has some interesting and pertinent
knowledge to share on his Website.
