Refraining from the killing of living beings is
      wholesomeness,
Refraining from taking what is not given is
      wholesomeness,
Refraining from sexual misconduct is wholesomeness,
Refraining from false speech is wholesomeness,
Refraining from malicious speech is wholesomeness,
Refraining from harsh speech is wholesomeness,
Refraining from idle prattle is wholesomeness,
      Non-covetousness is wholesomeness,
      Non-ill will is wholesomeness,

      Ida.m vuccataavuso kusala.m.
Ime dasa dhammaa “kusalakammapathaa”ti naamena pi

      This, friend, is called wholesomeness.
These ten things should be known by the appellation
      ‘wholesome way of action’.
