Re: [Pali] pellana and lesa
- Dear nina van gorkom
Thanks a lot for your help.
The whole sentence for 'lesa' is 'vipassanaanayalesa' which is a subtitle.
The whole sentence for pellanaakaarena is
'Evam. hi assa sallakkhentassa udarabbhantare uppajjamaana.m kaayadvaara.m pat.iha~n~nitvaa pat.iha~n~nitvaa uppajjamaanaa vaayodhaatu thambhanaakaarena vaa calanaakarena vaa pellanaakaarena vaa aavi~nchanaakaarena vaa paakat.aa hoti.'
It is translated by Nyanaponika as 'While the meditator is thus engaged in noticing the element of motion which impinges continuously on the door of bodily sensitivity in the abdomen, it becomes evident to him in its aspects of stiffening, of vibrating, and of pushing and pulling.'
But, are we talking the same Visuddhi~naan.akathaa by Mahasi Sayadaw. Does it has chaper 14? It only has 21 pages.

In Monier-Williams Sanskrit dictionary 'le"sa-' is interpreted as 'very slightly

It may be a derivative of 'pii.leti' (to press, press down).
