Subject: [Pagan Poets Society] "Beltane Eve"
At the river's edge we gathered,
Sixteen of us strong.
Together there on Beltane Eve,
To honor Nature's song.
One by one we entered in,
The circle's sacred space.
Standing 'round the fire's glow,
All to find a place.
Elements we first called in,
God and Goddess were invoked.
Asking them to come join us,
In darkness we were cloaked.
Power raised, away we danced
About the circle round.
Feel the energy rise up,
From the sacred ground.
Scented incense, candles bright,
Mark the circle that was cast.
Peace and hope and joy and love,
The Lord and Lady wed at last.

I wrote this after Beltane in 2005. I participated in a ritual with a local
group, and was asked to help call quarters. I am usually a solitare, but have
participated in ritual occasionally with others.
