  • I volunteered to die cut some self mailer holders for Wedding Invitations, for the person that makes my steel rule dies. They came up with a paper that they received in a sample packet from an online Wedding Invitation supplier. The cost was very high and that is why I think they enlisted my help. Here is my dilemma. I can't seem to identify the paper manufacturer and cannot find...

Short runs are not really a problem for...

  • Mr. Brauey: When you are die cutting, you need to have a solid surface for the die to cut the paper on. A plain piece of steel, the correct thickness is all you need. Correct thickness I would define as, thick enough to meet the face of the die on your press when you have some packing underneath the piece of steel. I have a Kluge 12 x 18 and I have a piece of steel made at a sheet...

  • I have come into this discussion a little late, and it looks like a solution has been found. I just wanted to comment briefly on the subject of plates and the necessary adjustments that are sometimes necessary. When using wood mounted plates, one cannot always consider them to be truly flat. Characteristics of the wood and the methods used to produce the plate can all vary greatly...

  • Ms.West: Why not look for another platen press with an automatic feeder? There is the Chandler and Price 12 x 18 with a Kluge feeder, a Chandler and Price 10 x 15 Craftsman with Rice Feeder and also a Kluge 12 x 18 with automatic feeder. You are already familiar with the platen press. I would try to find one with a feeder. Good Luck Warren Gailbreath,Jr. Southwest Finishing, Inc...
