  • Illustrator 10 can not open or process CS files without major problems. We have acrobat 7 (we are a commercial printer with a service bureau for smaller shops.) Acrobat 6 does not work wel with opening 7 files either. We have set up dedicated machines after realizing it for CS products. They tend to corrupt non-CS files. • Julie, be careful with the engine heater they will warm up the oil and grease as well and will cause it to flow out of the press and gears. You can use them just do not place the right next to the areas where t eoil and grease for the gears will be. We used them on a press and had no trouble , but just make sure that you oil everything very good. From: CaveworksPress@^$1 Reply-To...

  • Keep the plated in a cooler or old refrigerator that is not plugged in. We use an oil heater like you see at many restaurants and weddings. It has a thermostat and is rated for indoor use. It cost us 1500.00 but was worth it. From: Katie Harper Reply-To: PPLetterpress@^$1 Date: Sun, 14 Nov 2004 12:28:27 -0500 To: Subject: [PPLetterpress] Shop heating question? I have my new print...

  • Does the press have 1 new bar and 1 old gripper bar on it. we had this problem years ago and after a major problem we only replaced the bent gripper and every other sheet was out of register. The other solution is to take the bar that is not registering off and only run 1 bar if the job is time criticle. From: Keith Berger Reply-To: PPLetterpress@^$1 Date: Sun, 3 Oct 2004 13:58:39...

  • I just have to say this being a printer as well as being part of a family owns equipment moving company. Sometime we may only move 1 model of equipment once or twice. If you want the equipment moved right hire a professional rigger and know your machine. Tell them where to brace it where are the week spots are. By doing this it will make your move better and eliminated any breakage...

  • I would not recommend a Baum Cut 31.5 for doing volume cutting or quality. We went through several before we had our money refunded from the manufacture who is NOT polar contrary to what the I.D. plates say. They are re-tagged they in no way resemble a polar once all of the covers are off and the mechanics compared. As far as low maintenance I can not say anything about that we...

  • we wipe the exterior of all of our equipment down with pledge. We buy the concentrate at Home Depot and dilute it very little. After a few application you can just wipe ink off with a rage of pledge and the rebuff it. Plus most SC Johnson Wax products are good at cutting through grime to clean and polish. Also you get a very nice smelling press. Sean From: "Gerald Lange" Reply-To...
