APHA Conference 9/22/05-9/23/05: late-breaking news

September 10 is the deadline for anyone wishing to attend the 2005
conference of the American Printing History Association in the San
Francisco Bay area from September 22-23, 2005. Your registration must
be postmarked by September 10. A registration form is on the APHA
We have late-breaking news for those attending the 2005 APHA conference:
Wednesday September 21: Early arrivals are invited to a lecture at
the Arion Press/Grabhorn Institute by John D. Berry on "Shaping the
News in the Digital Age: Typography & Image on Modern Newsprint" at 6
p.m. (1802 Hays Street, The Presidio, San Francisco). For more
information or reservations, call (415) 561-2548. (Admission: $10,
free to students.)
APHA Keynote Speaker: Geoffrey Nunberg has had to withdraw as our
keynote speaker on the Thursday night banquet at the Sir Francis
Drake Hotel. Professor Paul Duguid will speak on "From Gutenberg to
Project Gutenberg and Beyond."
APHA's conference will also host Book Fest, a select group of
booksellers and booklovers' groups, in conjunction with the
conference. Conference participants may attend this exciting related
event and have the opportunity to purchase artists' books, prints,
scholarly books on the history of printing, poetry broadsides, and
fine press books. A complete list of Book Fest participants is on the
APHA website. (You must be registered for the conference in order to attend.)
