Library of Discards will hold a SALON on Thursday, May 6th, 2004, from
6-8pm, at San Francisco Center for the Book, 300 DeHaro Street, San
      Francisco.
LIBRARY OF DISCARDS is an ongoing project originated by Kathleen Walkup.
For this salon 13 Bay Area artists and writers were invited to form a
response to a book from the collection of discarded books she has
gathered, mostly from the local public library, since 2000.

Artists and writers participating in the project are

Michael Beller*, Vivian Chin*, Sas Colby, Patricia Dienstfrey*, Arthur
Huang*, James Meetze, Gloria Morales*, Lauren Silver*, Juliana Spahr*,
Annie Stenzel*, Nick Szegda, Theresa Whitehill*, and Steve Woodall*.

(*Starred artists will be at the salon to personally present their
responses, which range from etchings to poems to altered books.)

For information and directions please visit sfcb.org or phone 415 565
0545. Everyone is welcome. There will be light refreshments.

Mills College hosted the original salon in November 2003, in a lunchtime
event sponsored by the Olin Library (Moya Stone, coordinator).
