A Wayzgoose is an ancient custom in the British printing industry dating back to the 17th century when the master printer would host a feast for his apprentices marking the end of the summer and the return to working by candlelight. SVC’s Wayzgoose revival will omit the traditional feast of a goose and all-night trip to an ale house. Instead, we'll showcase the two-dimensional works produced in SVC's letterpress shop, including posters, invitations, and one-of-a-kind broadsides. All the pieces were letterpress printed by hand on vintage presses--the same kind you'll get to run when you print a Wayzgoose keepsake of your own.

Last year's Wayzgoose was a huge success. This year we have even more in store:

10-noon: Printer's Tailgate Party. In the SVC parking lot. Bring letterpress equipment to sell or trade with your local printing comerades.

noon-4: Gallery showing of work from the press from the past year, along with food, drink, and a studio open house. Print a keepsake.

located at 500 Aurora Ave N, Seattle

For more information and to RSVP for the tailgate party, call 206 623-1560.
