Interesting problem. In Identifont, the only manufacture that shows a

know, you have to have both the scrren font and printer font to have it
print correctly. I would hazard that one of the resources is missing. Good
        luck on solving the problem.

          Eric,

Can you not simply convert the text to outlines in Pagemaker?
Or, if not, can you open the file in InDesign, or copy/paste the content into an InDesign file, and then convert the text to outlines to make a PDF with no font data?

I believe that the .pfb and .pfm files are the PC equivalent of the
postscript screen and printer font on a Mac. You were clearly not
given all the truetype fonts you needed of Guardi. It is very
difficult to ascertain font names on a PC because, as you can see,
their names are pretty cryptic. The only way to actually see their
real names is with a font management program such as Adobe Type
Manager. I have Guardi in a postscript Mac font. I could send your
service bureau the set if that is considered OK to do for you to
            output your job.

I deal with pdf files from customers from all over the country. I am

I miss the old days when I used a Linotype or hand set type. You didn t have font problem when you took a lead form or engraving to a printer to print for you.

                        typeface, i guess (GUardy Italic)
GUI_____.TTF is the file of (the same, I guess) true-type font italic typeface.

Is roman or bold typeface really used in the work?

I think it's better to send a PDF with all fonts embeded.

.pfb is pc type1 outline file .pfm is pc type1 metrics file that s enough for pc type1 fontface. .ttf file is the only file needed as pc true-type fontface.

fontfaces are grouped as fontfamily in menu by data recorded in file
info (inside file), but lonely typeface will still work.

guess, you have lonely typeface, italic, in true-type and type1 variants.
