13804Workshop: Photopolymer Plates for Relief Printing, Sat., June 21, Seattle, WA
- May 16, 2014
Now offered in Seattle by popular demand
Learn the process of making your own plates in a half-day workshop. Carl Youngmann and Ellie Mathews, letterpress printers, will demonstrate do-it-yourself, U-V exposure, water-wash methods for producing printable images in your own studio or kitchen.
Starting with an inkjet negative of a scanned image, we will expose a light-sensitive emulsion with a black light, develop the plate in tap water, and make proof copies with a simple tortilla press method. Specific products, exposure times and details will be outlined with the idea that participants will be able to make plates themselves in their own workspaces. The focus will be on using photographs and drawings as material for relief printing.
The Seattle class will be held at the Concord Condominium, 2929 First Avenue in Belltown 9:00 to noon, Saturday, June 21, 2014.
