This just in from Larry Raid in Denmark, Iowa, USA...

A most incredible offer! For the 8th year in a row, Larry Raid is offering his FREE Linotype classes in a week long course at his "Linotype University" located on his unique property in Denmark Iowa.

His motive is simply to help keep linotype letterpress alive well into the 21st Century. So if you have ever seriously thought about knowing how to operate "the 8th wonder of the world," and in keeping them operating after you learn how, this is your special opportunity.

For more information, contact Larry directly via the contact info at the end of this e-mail. Now here is Larry's complete message that he wanted me to pass on to sfletterpress list members:

Please let any of the readers, guests, or others, know about the Linotype University VIII Class, which will be held, September 26 - October 3, 2010 at the Working Linotype Museum and the Linotype Classroom, here in Denmark, Iowa

There is FREE TUITION for this week-long class. "How to Operate a Linotype" is the main theme, because there are so many machines, without operators, and past LU students are commanding up to $1.35 for each and every line of corrected lines of type, which is set and cast. At the rate of 100 lines of type per hour, that is an excellent way to make money, from a machine, which is loved to operate by the operator, and the printing is the best.

Thank you for your continued effort in supporting the Letterpress Printing Industry.

You are also Most Welcome to stop here anytime you are passing through or in this area.

      More later.

Keep on Linotyping and Letterpressing and Collecting... and High-Speed Railroading and Ultra-High-Speed Railroading.
