Good evening Council and Area Presidents and PCR National Directors,

Please ensure wide distribution of the following information to your Council members:

On 8 February, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, General James Amos, will speak at the Marines Memorial theatre, after being introduced by Secretary Shultz. The event starts at 5:30 pm and will last until 6:45 pm, to be followed by a wine reception.  You can sign up for this event (there is no charge for this event), by going to our website at: http://www.marineclub.com/Events/2011/GPS_GenAmos/Index.htm.

On 16 February, the Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Gary Roughead, will speak in the Marines Memorial theatre, after being introduced by Secretary Shultz. The event starts at 5:30 pm and will last until 6:45 pm, to be followed by a wine reception.  You can sign up for this event (there is no charge for this event), by going to our website at:   http://www.marineclub.com/Events/2011/gps_admroughead/Index.htm

Major General James M. (Mike) Myatt, USMC (Ret), President and CEO of the Marines Memorial, is hoping to have a full theatre to send a very powerful signal to these two members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff that the Bay Area is very PRO-MILITARY, the opposite of its reputation.  (This last Fleet Week, all the sailors and Marines were surprised how receptive the locals were to the military presence. He wants the CNO and CMC to get the same impression.)

Let's try to get a great turnout at this event.

      Cheers, Bonnie
