Friends and supporters of Fleet Week,

Our next Fleet Week 2009 Coordination Meeting will be:

      Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 2:00pm PDT

Aboard SS Jeremiah O'Brien, Cargo Hold 2, berthed at Fisherman's Wharf, Pier
      45
(Parking is available in Shed C next to the ship's bow)

This meeting is open to anyone who would like to participate in or support
Fleet Week 2009. If there is anyone missing from this distribution, kindly
forward the e-mail to them and cc me so that I may add them to our address
      list.

As previously mentioned, this year's Fleet Week will take place from October
7 - 13, with the air show occurring on October 10 - 11. The Navy has
assigned a different ship to San Francisco Fleet Week than previously
discussed. The currently assigned ship is one of the new San Antonio class
of LPDs which are replacing the older LSDs. The Canadians, the Coast Guard
and the Jeremiah O’Brien will also participate in the Parade of Ships. Lt.
Ben Norkin, the Third Fleet Point of Command, will be present at the
      meeting.

Fleet Week supporter Hornblower Cruises & Events have gone all out to
organize a Support Fleet Week San Francisco cruise on September 24th. I
will be sending out a flyer in the next couple of days that will provide
more information on this event. I encourage you to pass it along to anyone
who might enjoy a leisurely sunset cocktail cruise across the Bay. Tickets
will be available at $200 with the majority of the proceeds going to help
fund this year’s Fleet Week. A million thanks to Hornblower for this
generous donation of the cruise ship and their expertise in planning and
      organizing this event.

It’s hard to believe, but Fleet Week is a little more than eight weeks away.
We have done it successfully many times before so I believe we are in good
shape. Nonetheless please come to the meeting so we can be comfortable that
everyone is informed and will be fully prepared when Fleet Week arrives. I
look forward to seeing you on the September 1st.

      Best regards,
      Ed
