Come join us for a free, fun harbor tour and enjoy learning about the Port of Oakland
The 2008 Harbor Tour Season will begin on Thursday, May 15th with "All Schools Day". The first regular tour will be held on Thursday, June 19th with the season concluding in October 2008. We will begin taking reservations on April 11th, 2008. Come join us for a FREE, fun harbor tour and enjoy learning about the Port of Oakland.
Experience a bird’s eye view of the Port of Oakland’s giant cranes and maritime operations. The Port of Oakland is the third busiest container port on the West Coast. Every year the Port provides an opportunity for local organizations, school children, senior and recreation centers, and the general public to participate in these free narrated harbor tours. Tours showcase the Port’s history, development plans and operations. The approximately one hour (1 hr) tour will take you alongside port operations along the Oakland Estuary.
Join us on a comfortable ferryboat with open-air decks as we cruise through the Oakland Estuary and the outer harbor. You'll see the giant cranes that just barely made it under the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge on the way to our new terminals. You’ll also view our Middle Harbor Shoreline Park, more than 40-acres of parkland designed for public enjoyment and the 180-acre Middle Harbor Enhancement Area, home to a growing population of natural habitat ranging from eelgrass to birds.
