SFBA-NDTA Scholarship Application
The NDTA (National Defense Transportation Association) is an international,
non-profit, non-political organization providing a common forum to discuss
and endorse programs designed to promote transportation preparedness for
peacetime needs and the defense of the free world. Its membership includes
today's transportation industry top civilian and military leaders who are
dedicated to increase the safety, effectiveness, economy and the
responsiveness of the transportation industry in the movement of people and
goods.About the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (SFBA)
The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter is one of the oldest chapters in the NDTA
having received its charter on June 30, 1949. With a membership of
approximately 300, it ranks among the top three chapters in terms of size.
The chapter is noted for its exceptionally active and professionally
rewarding monthly programs, strong participation in local, regional, and
national transportation activities; continuing support of emergency
planning, and attention to transportation education. Over the years, the Bay
Area Chapter has achieved national prominence and has been selected by
National Headquarters on numerous occasions for the prestigious NDTA Chapter
of the Year Award.
About the Scholarships:
Jack Macy Chapter Scholarship Award - This scholarship of $2500.00 will be
awarded to a San Francisco Bay Area Chapter NDTA member, spouse, or
immediate family member. Students are eligible to join the NDTA at a cost of
$10.00 per year .The requirement for consideration is that the student must
be a US citizen, the application form, have supporting documentation and the
applicant be enrolled or planning to enroll in either an undergraduate or
postgraduate program at an accredited institution. If eligible for the Jack
Macy Chapter Scholarship, provide name & membership relation of sponsoring
Benjamin Pomeroy and Sheldon Glatt Scholarships - These scholarships of
$1000.00 or more will be awarded to a student who is a U.S. Citizen and
enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning in an undergraduate
degree or vocational program in the fields of Transportation/Logistics,
Business, Marketing, Engineering, Planning, or Environment, preparing to
pursue a career related to transportation. This award will be based upon
scholastic ability, potential, professional interest and character.
Veterans Scholarship - This scholarship of $1000.00 or more is open to any
veteran on active duty or has been on active duty within the past five
years. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited institution and provide
all an application form as well as supporting documents.Scholarship

applications must include all required documentation. Applications
postmarked after May 31 will not be considered.
A certified copy of your vocational school, high school and collage
transcript (if applicable).
Three letters of recommendation: one must be from a teacher or counselor at
your school, one must be from someone who knows you other than from school,
and one may be from anyone you choose.
A one-page essay detailing your career goals and ambitions with emphasis on
transportation and/or a related career field.
The Awards Committee requires complete information from the applicant to
facilitate the selection process.
