26.2 miles. That's my goal this weekend.
The 38th annual Marine Corps Marathon kicks off this Sunday, October 27, and for the first time, volunteers and staff members from the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society will make the run as a team -- and I'll be one of them.
The Marathon will test our limits, but I know we're doing it for a great reason. The funds we raise will support Marines and Sailors, a mission close to the heart of our Society.
Even if you can't be here with us in D.C., you can still cheer us on.
Before we hit the starting line, add your name to a card for all of the Society runners in this year's Marathon. It will just take a second.
I've been with the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society since 2008, served in the Navy for 30 years, and been a runner for 20. Through all these pursuits, I've learned the value of hard work, commitment, and dedication.
I knew about NMCRS when I was on active duty, but helping Sailors and Marines day to day as part of the NMCRS office in Norfolk has really opened my eyes to the breadth of services the Society offers.
It truly is a team effort. That's why I'm so proud to represent the Society's team on Sunday.
Will you add your name to support Team NMCRS before the Marathon?
