Invitation: San Francisco Bay Gala aboard the San Francisco Belle, Pier 3. October 3
This is billed as an “Otterly Enchanting Evening”! Why you ask? Attendees will somehow view the Bay’s watershed through the eyes of local river otters. They’ll raise a glass to the Aquarium’s new North American river otter exhibit, http://www.aquariumofthebay.org/otterly-amazing. Yup, there’s a difference between them and the sea otters.
The San Francisco Bay Gala brings together several of the Bay’s foremost supporters, including fellow Navy Leaguers, Bay Planning Coalition members, and other environmental, civic and philanthropic leaders sharing our passion for a healthy San Francisco Bay and estuary. Enjoy the Bay at sunset with distinguished company, fine cocktails and a delicious strolling sustainable dinner featuring local restaurants that are part of the San Francisco Seafood Watch Alliance, http://www.aquariumofthebay.org/san-francisco-seafood-watch-alliance.
San Francisco Bay Gala proceeds support The Bay Institute, http://www.bay.org, and Aquarium of the Bay, http://aquariumofthebay.org. They have a combined mission to protect, restore and inspire conservation of San Francisco Bay and its watershed—from the Sierra to the sea. Join us for this enchanting evening.

San Francisco Seafoodie Passport
In celebration of National Seafood Month in October, the Aquarium of the Bay has created the San Francisco Seafoodie Passport, inviting everyone to become a sustainable seafoodie by making sustainable seafood choices - in October and afterwards.
Why is choosing sustainable seafood so important? The seafood decisions of consumers make a difference to the health of the ocean and watershed. Many people eat seafood without realizing the significance of their choices to the ocean environment. Always make use of resources like Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch ® guides and smartphone app, and choose to dine at restaurants that have committed to serve sustainable seafood, such as the San Francisco Seafood Watch Alliance restaurant partners. Voting for sustainable seafood with your dollars helps influence fisheries and aquaculture to be more sustainable, and everyone is part of the solution.
Aquarium of the Bay has partnered with specific sustainable seafood restaurants throughout the bay area druing October 2013 to bring you the Seafoodie Passport.
Here’s how it works:
- Pick up your Seafoodie Passport.
- Pick up a passport in person during daily Fishing for our Future presentations at Aquarium of the Bay
- Download and print out a passport online
- Enjoy a delicious meal at a participating restaurant. After your meal, ask your server to stamp your passport
- Turn in your completed passport to receive a free pass into Aquarium of the Bay and to be entered into a raffle to win larger prizes.
