Lou Lozano, Oakland Council President, and Phelps Hobart, Pacific Merchant Marine Council President, after the Oakland Council's fundraiser golf tournament August 27 at the Alameda golf course, www.golfinalameda.com.

      Lou and a few members
of his council put it together; the Pacific Merchant Marine Council was a hole sponsor. Phelps volunteered for the day - assisting with registration, a special competition on hole #7, and selling drawing tickets.

Phelps drove down from Sacramento for the occasion along with attending the Pacific Central Region USCG District 11 annual awards, and the region meeting. August 28 he drove home but not before having lunch with members of the West Contra Costa Council in Richmond.

          Ahoy Members and Friends,

          Final Call...

You in San Francisco or nearby, hope to see you at the luncheon - space still available - just show up at 1130 with cash or check, $40.

You in Oakland or nearby, hope to see you at the reception.

I talked to Phil and he said he is willing to answer any Navy League questions you may have.

Between the luncheon and the reception, he and Linda will be visiting aboard the O'BRIEN and taking a quick look at the POTOMAC; I will be his escort.

Don't forget to wear your Navy League lapel pin.

          Heave Ho,

          Phelps
