SF Ocean Film Festival - Special Screening-Ahoy,Just a reminder this Festival is the brainchild of San Francisco Council member Krist Jake. Support of the festival by fellow Navy Leaguers I am sure is appreciated.Who knows, maybe this year there will be a Navy League release or a sea-service release. Those who do such things were notified when there was a call for entries last year.Anchors Aweigh,PhelpsPhelps HobartSenior Vice PresidentPacific Central Region-- Original Message -----To: =?utf-8?Q??=Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2012 3:59 PMSubject: SF Ocean Film Festival - Special ScreeningOur Mission: The San Francisco Ocean Film Festival celebrates the sea with inspirational films that increase our appreciation of the oceans that surround us.Is this email not displaying correctly?

We've teamed up with our friends at the San Francisco Chapter of Surfrider Foundation and Barefoot Wines & Bubbly to present "One Beach" a film featuring the life changing stories of five key individuals destined to make an impact on the health of our oceans and preventing the use of plastic. On hand for a post-screening Q&A session will be Judith and Richard Lang, featured artists in the "One Beach" film for their work in creating art out of plastic discovered at Kehoe Beach in the Point Reyes National Seashore.
Be mesmerized by the award winning music and landscape of "Thirty Thousand" following the journey of Austrailian surfers and twin brothers Richard and Andrew James as they drive across Africa catching some of the longest waves imaginable while also capturing breathtaking African scenery. Winner of the 2011 Best Soundtrack at the New York Surf Film Festival, don't miss the Bay Area premiere of this amazing surfing film.
Complimentary light hors d'oeuvres and wine and bubbly will be served. Tickets on sale now by clicking here: http://sfoffspecialscreening.eventbrite.com
One BeachOne Beach is a film that tells the personal stories of people who are using creativity and innovation to help keep the world’s beaches “barefoot friendly.” Directed by renowned surf filmmaker Jason Baffa and produced by Farm League, the film profiles six passionate people who are working to help fix the global beach trash problem.
Thirty ThousandThirty Thousand follows twin brothers Richard and Andrew James as they travel 30,000 kilometers down the west coast of Africa on a 9-month surfing odyssey from Casablanca to Cape Town. Along the way they surf in Morocco, Western Sahara, Senegal, Liberia, Angola, Namibia and South Africa. The film documents the waves, cultures and landscapes of this long and diverse coastline.
Surfrider FoundationWe are pleased to be working in collaboration with our community partner, Surfrider Foundation, proud sponsor of the film "One Beach". Join us to learn more about the Waste to Waves(TM) campaign, an exciting new program by Sustainable Surf where you can “Turn Your Trash Into Slash,” by recycling your waste packaging foam – aka “styrofoam” – into new eco-friendlier surfboard blanks.
