“SO YOU THINK YOU CAN KISS?” CONTEST ON HISTORIC PIER 45 SATURDAY SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., August 6, 2011 — The National Liberty Ship Memorial, Inc.
Historic Pier 45 is inviting contestants to sign up for their “So You Think You Can Kiss?” contest being held Saturday, August 6, from Noon to 1:30 pm on Historic Pier 45 in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf.
The contest is sponsored by the SS Jeremiah O’Brien and the USS Pampanito in honor of the famous sculpture of the Times Square Kiss being exhibited on Historic Pier 45 this weekend.
Celebrity judges will award prizes to the contestants who come closest to “re-enacting” the Times Square Kiss in both form and romantic “presence.” Period costumes get extra credit.
“The Times Square Kiss, often called ‘The Kiss Seen ‘Round the World’, is emblematic of the end of World War II,” stated Dennis Koller, Executive Director of the SS Jeremiah O’Brien, “and gave a violence-weary world the hope of ushering in a new age of peace, harmony and love..”
Contestants can sign up Saturday morning on Pier 45 starting at 11 am. Live music from 11 am to 4 pm.
