On the morning of Saturday, August 13, a convoy of World War II military and civilian vehicles is planned to travel over the Golden Gate Bridge to Historic Pier 45 to “escort” the sculpture to San Jose where it will be part of the two day National Spirit of ’45 Day celebration planned in History Park.“The SS Jeremiah O’Brien and USS Pampanito are proud to be part of this nationwide effort to keep alive the spirit of ’45,” added Mr. Koller. “We want to preserve the legacy of the Greatest Generation so that their example of courage, self sacrifice and commitment to community can help inspire a renewal of national unity in America at a time when we must come together again to meet historic challenges.”On August 6 and 7 from 11 A.M. - 4 P.M., the public is invited to view the “Times Square Kiss” sculpture and to enjoy free live music. Active military personnel and their families are especially welcome. Photo opportunities with the sculpture will be available. Kissing contest is on Saturday from 12-1:30 PM. - All Hands:
Dagnar Alholm, age 92, a resident of ther California Veterans' Home at Yountville, California met the Nurse in that famous photo when she visited the Home... (and was mentioned in an article about her in the Napa newspaper)...
I think it would be great to invite Mr. Alholm to be in the ceremony...That beautiful nurse passed away shortly after visiting Yountville.
I would be honored to bring him to the ceremony....
