    Investment Compliance Systems Applications Developer

     

    Job Abstract 

    Our client, a Boston-based quantitative Asset Management firm has an opening on their Compliance and Reporting Development Team for an experienced C#/Sql Server software developer with a working knowledge of compliance practices in the financial services industry.  Candidates must have strong proficiency in C# and Sql Server development with expertise in both desktop and web application solutions preferred.  The right candidate is a self-starter with the technical implementation skills to independently deliver professional solutions that solve business needs.  Responsibilities include the ability to break a project down into deliverables, task estimation, technical design, coding, testing and implementation of custom software solutions along with maintenance and feature enhancement of existing solutions.  The challenge is not solely technical – members of this seasoned development team need a thorough understanding of the financial services compliance, regulatory and/or reporting domains to enable them to delve into business requirements and converse with users to solidify requirements and solutions.  The developer will work closely with internal users and systems personnel throughout the SDLC to coordinate project initiatives from the requirements phase through Production deployment.  This senior developer will be contributing to the team on day one.

    Experience with Investment, Trading, Performance, Compliance and/or Reporting applications in the Investment Management / Financial Industry is highly preferred.

    The primary software technologies include:  SQL, SQL Server 2005/2008/2012, C#, Win Forms, Web Technology (MVC), WCF, Enterprise Framework 4, nServiceBus, nCache, SSRS, Visual Studio/TFS 2010/2012, Infragistics controls.

    Qualifications:

    ·      The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of success as a software developer in investment management / financial services trade compliance or a related discipline.

    ·      Ability to manage and deliver mid-size project initiatives independently under aggressive timelines.

    ·      Applied knowledge of the full SDLC with the ability to write comprehensive technical specifications from business requirements.

    ·      5+ years as a Software Developer in a Microsoft environment.  5+ of these years hands-on C# development on production platforms.

    ·      4+ years’ experience using Microsoft SQL Server (2005 or 2008) including schema design, stored procedure development, performance tuning and optimization.  Experience working on large databases a plus.

    ·      1+ years reporting creation using SSRS.

    ·      Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

    ·      Knowledge of Object Oriented Application Design best practices and techniques.

    ·      Diligence and experience creating and utilizing automated unit and integration testing.

    ·      Flexibility to respond to changing priorities.

    ·      Tier 3 support responsibilities for critical systems are included in the job responsibilities.

    ·      Experience with Application Lifecycle Management on Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS).

    ·      Experience developing distributed systems using Enterprise Framework 4, Service Bus and Distributed Caching a plus.

    Senior Network and Server Engineer Specializing in VMWare

     

    Job Abstract 

    Our client, a Boston-based quantitative Asset Management firm, has a full-time, permanent opening on their Operations and Infrastructure Team for a Senior Network and Server Engineer with a primary emphasis on VMWare.  This position will report directly to the network manager and will involve direct responsibility of the client’s VMWare systems, as well as other network and server based technologies. The ideal candidate requires a high level of analytical and creative skills and an in-depth knowledge of virtualization, networking and servers.  The ability to design and implement automation and scheduled tasks using a variety of technologies is critical to this role.

    Experience with VMWare VSphere and VCenter; Cisco switches, Windows servers; Active Directory, EMC SAN, Powershell.

    This is a quantitative, investment management environment where system performance is measured in milliseconds and data capacity in petabytes.  The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar environment and understand how to architect and support a high-performance, highly available, computing infrastructure.

    Duties Include:

    ·      Plan architecture and infrastructure for new and existing network systems for a financial systems environment

    ·      Design operations and implementation scripts and automation; configure and write supporting documentation

    ·      Investigate issues with the IT systems to identify systematic problems and root causes; work with vendors as necessary to resolve issues

    ·      Design and manage projects with routers (ASR), switches (Nexus), LAN, WAN, WLAN, proxies, firewalls (Juniper), DMZ and other network technologies as needed

    ·      Design and assist with the clients business continuity plans

    ·      Create documentation and best practices for access and controls, benchmarking,   policy management, backups and recovery, performance, reliability, usability and support

    ·      Create automated scripts for reoccurring tasks

    ·      Help develop strategy for enhancements and growth

    ·      Automate the management of security to ensure the integrity of all confidential participant, client and employee information

    ·      Assist and design stress testing of new deployments before install to production

    ·      Develop automated policies to ensure compliance with company standards and vendor best practices

    ·      Review and provide subject matter expertise on specification and implementation documentation

    ·      Provide cross training to other engineers as necessary

    Qualifications:

    ·      Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related is a requirement.

    ·      Requires 7+ years of direct, hands-on experience working with VMWare. Experience with Cisco, Windows servers, Active Directory and EMC SAN storage also required.

    ·      VMWare certification required. Cisco and Microsoft certifications desired.

    ·      Experience with an investment/hedge fund or financial services company highly desired. 

    ·      Must be able to work in a schedule-driven environment. Timing is a critical function.

    ·      Flexibility with regards to scheduling, including after hours and weekends, is required.  24x7 on call support for scheduled days required.  Ability to travel to other data centers required.

    ·      Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills are essential.

    Our client, a Boston-based quantitative Asset Management firm, has a full-time, permanent opening for a Manager, Database Administration.  This position will be responsible for running projects and support within a group of DBA’s in the client’s fast paced Operations and Infrastructure team.  This position will report directly to the Infrastructure manager and will involve direct responsibility of the client’s database systems. The ideal candidate requires a high level of analytic and creative skills and an in-depth knowledge of database structure, configuration, methodology and design.  The ability to design and implement automation and scheduled tasks using a variety of technologies is critical to this role.

    Experience with SQL Server 2005, 2008 and 2012; Windows servers; Powershell; SQL Server Reporting Services; very large databases; project management methodologies

    Duties Include:

    ·      Plan architecture and infrastructure for an investment database systems environment with numerous SQL Server databases in versions 2005, 2008 and 2012

    Applications Developer - Trading Systems Group

     

    Job Abstract 

    Our client, a Boston-based quantitative Asset Management firm, has a full-time, permanent opening for an Application Developer.  The Application Developer will be a key contributor on a team that develops and supports the client’s Trading Systems. This involves integrating our OMS (Charles River) with security data providers, back office and portfolio management systems. The software technologies involved include C#, SQL Server Databases (T-SQL), SSRS and Crystal Reports. This person will be involved in projects supporting both the Portfolio Management and Investment Compliance business units. This person will also interact with other groups including developers, DBA’s, network engineers, quality assurance (QA) and third party vendors / consultants.

    The ideal candidate is a Microsoft developer (C#, SQL Server) with knowledge of investment and trading systems.

    Duties Include:

    ·      Work closely with business users to understand the business needs and requirements and develop detailed technical specification documents.

    ·      Design & develop front-end applications and application services using C#, .Net and WCF.
