05:01 PDA Bulletin -- Occupation Distress and Permanent Basing

The Project on Defense Alternatives is pleased to announce a new
      Website:

Occupation Distress: The Cost of the New Wars for the Armed Services

      http://www.comw.org/od/index.html

This site presents citations and links (updated weekly) to articles
and studies that report on the effect of the wars in Afghanistan and
Iraq on the armed forces of the United States. Topics included are:
force sizing, troops in Iraq, troops at home, issues of stability
      operations, recruitment, and military reform.

PDA predicts that 2005 will be a very hard year for the U.S. Army, in
both its active and reserve components. Bookmark this site and check
back from time to time during the coming year.

We have also added a new archive to the War Report. It covers the
issue of (prospects for) permanent basing of U.S. troops in Iraq.
