I agree with Fred, the very first email I got of the user group was so filled with foul language and vituperation against a software writer who was trying to earn a crust that I almost abandoned the group in disgust Fortunatley I did not act immediatley becouse the webmaster informed the group , within the hour, said member had been given the bums rush becouse his remarks were not acceptable. The member who posted the info was trying to be helful for goodness sake. If people are prepared to look around eBay they will come across amazing PCR1000 bargains ie the guy who put up a PCR1000 plus a Toshiba laptop to run it. He put it in entirley the wrong section, without a reserve and got the princley sum of £145 for the entire package. I was delighted buy my PCR for £190, a few days later someone won one complete with DSP and a huge amount of commercial software for £205. If people care to tap my callsign into eHam.net they will see why I am not easily impressed. A little tolerance please fellow members

What ever happened to: "The customer is always
correct?" or "He's just asking a SIMPLE question?"
Besides, I don't think the disclaimer, "As-Is" is viable
if the buyer DOESN'T have an opportunity to see it
before the transaction place. If you describe it as
working, or perfect, or virtually new, but the buyer
finds otherwise, As-Is refers to a working or perfect
or V.N. unit, which the seller HAS to provide.
I AUDIT circuit boards for a Logistics Group (you spend
$6K on a board repair and the board still fails the same
test upon return, I get the board and I test it and oversee
repair.) I've learned if I ask about particular board's status,
the fancier the answer ("I just replaced a memory chip and
64 bit multiplier/divider") the longer it's going to take to get out.
The good boards have SHORT answers.

                          Hi Skip.

Yes - It's a predatory scene where both customers and
sellers are vulnerable and fraud feeds upon trust.
That aside, the average seller surely can do no more
than describe the item - as fairly as they know how.
A less than "ideal" description shouldn't attract
                          aggressive comment.

Is it not preferable for both sides to show good
intent and make best effort to complete the bargain?
That includes questions and answers exchanged before
                          bidding ends.
Like in driving, "If in doubt, hold back".

Regarding your $6k board repairs, I've found that
better answers aid fault finding but the worst range
from a blunt "doesn't work" to a fairy tail of
                          abandoned bungling.

                          Regards,

                          Fred.

                            either...

You are definitely not used to the way used electronic is sold on
                            eBay.
used electronic is "always" sold as-is, it's up to the buyer taking
                            it or leaving it,
that's why the seller profile is a good tool in these cases...
Why before you cast your aggressive questions don't you read my eBay
                            profile
with more than 200 feedbacks (100% positive)? that might help you...

If you are shopping for a good PCR1000 you should consider my unit,
                            if not, please ....

That's why I always state "AS-IS, AND AS DESCRIBED"
The customer is very seldom "always right", but the above words protect the seller, and also protect the buyer. If it is not "as described" then the deal is off, and the buyer is protected, ALSO, the seller is protected if it is not "as described"
DOA should always be protected, too.
                              ALSO,. , , 100% feedback doesn't really mean much.
Negative feedback given to someone for any reason is usually shot back to the giver, even if unjustified.
All 100% means is that YOU have not GIVEN anyone any negative feedback.

Remember, there are a lot of devious, mean spirited people out there in the world.

                              Doc.
