Neverthless... there should be an option to keep the old Pcgen Equipped tab, it was more useful and equipment was alphabetical, so easy to trace. :D

I hate to see responses like this. As a user, when I post to the list, I do it with the intent that I am raising a code bug or a freq. It s one thing to tell

I hate to see responses like this. As a user, when I post to the list, I do it with the intent that I am raising a code bug or a freq. It's one thing to tell a user "Code bugs go to the main list." It's another thing entirely to tell the user to go to a completely different web site and learn how to use the PCGen team's tracker system. This is a great way to allow bugs and freqs fall through the cracks.

I understand that this is a volunteer community, and that everyone has a limited amount of time that they are able to put into it. I have gotten onto the volunteer list a couple of times, and have had to quickly withdraw because of R/L responsibilities. Because of those R/L responsibilities, I have to content myself with working on my personal datasets, monitoring the various lists, and offering the occasional suggestion.

Personally, I don't have have the time to learn the tracker system or Wiki, to enter trackers based on my findings or suggestions, or to monitor trackers based on those findings or suggestions. If someone fixes an issue that I found, or improves the program based on one of my freqs, I am more than happy to test (with a new alpha version, not with an autobuild -- too many troubles with those over the years).

I'm not trying to start a flame war, so please take this as constructive criticism. It's just my 2 cents.

            Cheers,

            Sir George Anonymous

encourages more accurate and detailed reporting.

jira.pcgen.org really is easy to use - should take all of 2 minutes to post
a bug there, probably shorter than what we just took to write out these
              emails ;-).

              Cheers,

                Hi,

In some cases the bugs go unfixed cause the person trying to reproduce it can't and assumes it's
either been fixed, or a non-issue. Having the JIRA is a better communication method for the person
trying to fix it. Sure, we have users come on the lists with their bug report, but tracking down
that "one" post is a pain for just a simple question of 'What did you do, in specific steps, that
caused the issue" or "What sets were loaded". (We've had numerous successes cause we could talk to
the person affected and find that corner case bug)

Another fact, if the problem is not a LST issue, but a Code issue, it is less likely to get the
response needed as none of the main coders frequent this yahoo group. (I'd point to the tons of
trackers in code that aren't fixed cause the person that submitted it was a go-between). Now, we'll
submit the report, but it really does help to have the person that had the issue to be on hand.
Since when it gets fixed, they'll know to look for it and be able to say "YAY, you fixed it" or "Uh,
                it's still broken".

Submitting a JIRA isn't hard, and the tracker monkeys don't mind going behind and cleaning up a JIRA
cause the user isn't familiar with it. I'd rather have the ability to communicate with the affected
user and clean up a JIRA then have a Tracker monkey Jira and no method to track down the user. Now,
if a user can't use the system, or just wants to submit the report here, we will do so. But it's
                less efficient.

                Cheers,

Well... I must be stupid :\

I did go to the jira site, and was lost with the first page. Also, I *think* I needed to suscribe to this think, and do not have time nor very use in suscribing to another website to only report a little bug. Sorry, but maybe it would be simpler to have a kind of forum? One folder for bugs and another for lst help. Never understood why PCgen use yahoo group instead of a forum like every other programs :\

Anyway, if you understand how jira work, you can post my bug, and hope it could be corrected because every people I know have the same bug.

We are loading Pathfinder_RPG mode, Pathfinder books, 3.5e dmg magic-items, CMP FR bundle and supplement bundle (complete X,Y,Z). Equipment is equipped on SheetS, but the tab bug and doesn't show anything, making some customs items as if unequipable (it stay on screen but is removed, even deleted from inventory but showing as still listed!).

Overall, I think that the older system was really better... maybe put an option to have it back. :\

I can tell you reason why I hope PCGen will never give up using mailing
                    lists:
                    - With mailing lists, every new message comes to me. No need for me to log
into the forum every few seconds just to check whether there's a new
                    message.
                    - No need to read every new message at once lest the forum won't tell me
any more that I did not yet read it. With mailing lists, which message I
read when is completely under my personal control, and the unread
messages stay marked as unread until I do read them.
                    - I can put into a personal archieve exactly those mails that I think will
be useful for me, and discard the rest. So when I later search something,
I'm not hobbled by unimportant messages. To my knowledge, no forum offers
                    user-specific selection of messages shown.

These are reasons why I strongly prefer mailing lists over forums.

                    Susan

We ask people to create a login so that we can contact the original bug
submitter. The reality is that most people don't realise what constitutes
a useful bug report and so we often have to go back to tease out further
information. We found in the past that anonymous reports would never get
fixes because we could never confirm them.

PCGen is not responsible for CMP datasets. Unfortunately CMP is no longer
a business and there is no official support for these files. Are you able
to reproduce this bug without the CMP sets loaded?

                        K

                          Hi,

Equipment Issue (From Mailing list) <http://jira.pcgen.org/browse/CODE-1872>

It's not a subscription. It merely is to prevent spam and allows us to know who we can follow up
with when our coders go to fix/investigate.

Contact me offlist and I'll sign you up.

Now as to the issue at hand - Does the issue still happen if you aren't using the CMP sets?
Also, and this is a big one, are the CMP sets loading without any errors? (i.e. is there anything in
your error log that begins with ERROR, or SEVERE )

Is this only Custom Items causing the issues?
How did you make the items?

Feel free to contact me off list with those details.

                          Thanks,

Also, I *think* I needed to suscribe to this think, and do not have time nor very use in suscribing to another website to only report a little bug. Sorry, but maybe it would be simpler to have a kind of forum? One folder for bugs and another for lst help. Never understood why PCgen use yahoo group instead of a forum like every other programs :\

Equipment is equipped on SheetS, but the tab bug and doesn't show anything, making some customs items as if unequipable (it stay on screen but is removed, even deleted from inventory but showing as still listed!).
