Group Description

The Pan African Ministries Department (PAMD) of the Shrines of the Black Madonna of the Pan African Orthodox Christian Church (PAOCC) is open to ANYONE who shares the vision of building of a Pan African World Community with power! You do not have to be a member of the PAOCC to be involved! Our mission is not about debating the tenets of Pan Africanism, nor about romanticizing African history, culture or values, but rather to provide the leadership, guidance, resources and organizational know-how needed to facilitate the unification and empowerment of African people across the Diaspora. Benin is only our first point of entry into the Motherland, and not the extent of our missionary outreach efforts. -- Cardinal Mbiyu Chui, director.

PHOTO: African American pan-Africanist Malcolm X proudly poses in front of the famous statue of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, "Founder of the Nation" of Ghana, in front of Parliament House, Accra, May 15, 1964.

The inscription at the base is adapted from Matthew 6:33: "Seek Ye First the Political Kingdom and All Other Things Shall Be Added Onto It." (Group members could click on the PHOTOS section at left for additional images of and background on this statue.)

Flying atop Parliament House is Ghana's red, gold and green flag, with a black star at this center. The colors and star were inspired by black nationalist Marcus Garvey's red, black and green standard and his ambitious, but ill-fated, Black Star Line steamship company, respectively, of the 1920s.

Malcolm X is holding a windup 16mm Bell & Howell motion picture camera, with which he filmed his foreign travels to dispel myths, particularly about modern Africa, to his followers in the U. S. (Malcolm X Photo/"Liberator," July 1964)

NEW! For MEMBERS, historical AUDIO and VIDEO RECORDINGS on Ghana's long relationship with African America could be found thru the LINKS section and NEWSPAPER and JOURNAL ARTICLES could be found in the FILES section at left. Join today!
