Toys for Tots & A Day of A&S
Barony of al-Barran, November 20 and 21, 2004
Day of A&S: Highland High School; Site opens: 8am and closes 10pm. Site Fees: $5 or a new unwrapped toy (value of $5 or more) for adult members and $8 for adults who are not members or a toy and the $3 nonmember charge. Gate fee for youth 17 to 6 years old is $3 or a toy, and children 5 years old and under are free.
Toys for Tots: Bataan Memorial Park; Site opens 9am and closes 10pm. Site fee: Free
On Saturday, November 20th, al-Barran will be holding an Arts and Sciences Collegium, Baronial A&S Champion competition, a desserts competition and a court dance ball from 8am to 10pm. A donations lunch of meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, drinks, and desserts will be available and there will be entertainment during lunch. The A&S competition for the new A&S Champion for al-Barran will be held during the day using a tri-fold format to display for this competition. You must have a subscription to the Shaft in order to enter and Shaft subscriptions may be purchased at this event. Documentation for the A&S competition is not required but recommended. Desserts will accepted for the dessert competition by Thalauriana or Lady Barbara till 11:30am and prizes will be awarded for the populace choice and for the most period desert. Please submit documentation for period desserts. There will also be supervised activities for the children and youth ages 5 and up throughout the collegium, 9am to 5pm. We would appreciate it if parents would volunteer one hour to help with youth activities.
Gate opens at 8am, opening court at 8:40am, classes 9am to noon, entries accepted for the A&S Baronial competition 9 to 11am, dessert competition entries accepted till 11:30am, donations lunch with entertainment noon to 1pm, classes l to 5pm, youth activities 9am to 5pm, and a court dance ball with music by Scorpion Scales 7 to 9:30pm. THL Pendar will also have a heraldic consultation table during the day for name and device submissions and consultations. There will be signup sheets at the gate at 8am for classes that have a limit as to the number of students. The site fee will be $5 or a new unwrapped toy (value of $5 or more) for adult members and $8 for adults who are not members or a toy and the $3 nonmember charge. Gate fee for youth 17 to 6 years old will be $3 or a toy and children 5 years old and under are free. If you bring a youth (age 17 & under) to this event and you are not their parent or guardian, you will have to bring both a signed and notarized "Child Guardian Consent Form" and also a signed "Medical Authorization for Minors" form for each child. On Sunday, November 21st, the annual Toys for Tots Tournament will be held at Bataan Memorial Park in al-Barran. There will be a Heavy Weapons Tournament, a Rapier Tournament, a Period Toy Competition, food for all, and prizes for tournament victors. Besides the Martial activities there will be a prize for the most toys gathered by an individual and by a group. There will also be activities for the youth.
Sunday's Toys for Tots schedule is:

10 am List opens for light and heavy tourneys, Period Toy competition display opens
11am Opening Court
Noon Light and heavy tourneys begin

SCORPIONS HOCKEY GAME DEMO
On December 4th, we will be collecting toys at the New Mexico Scorpions Hockey Game. We will also be performing between two of the periods. SCA members in garb get in for half-price. If interested in attending, contact the autocrat.
Directions to the Day of A&S on Saturday, Highland High School cafeteria
From the east and west, take I-40 to the San Mateo exit, head south past Central Blvd. Just past the Wal-Mart turn right on Highland street. Go to the end of that street, turn right, go to the stop sign, turn left onto Coal. The school is on your left and the cafeteria is at the west end of the campus. From north and south, take I-25 to I-40 east, then take the San Mateo exit south and follow the above directions.

From the north and south, take I-25 to the Lomas exit, go east (towards the mountains) on Lomas, passing 3 traffic lights, turn left before the 4th light (Carlisle), the park is on the left.
