of Dachau in Germany
Moscow, May 6, Interfax - Churchgoers of the Moscow Patriarchate in
Munich and Kempten were praying together with the former Dachau
prisoners from Russia, Byelorussia, Ukraine and Lithuania during the
divine service held on the eve of the Victory Day.
The service was held on May 4, in the territory of this former
concentration camp in the square next to the entrance to the wooden
Resurrection memorial chapel. A sacred procession went around the chapel.
The memorial chapel was constructed with the blessing of Patriarch of
Moscow and of All Russia Alexy II to commemorate fellow-countrymen
who died in Dachau and other concentration camps during the World War
II. The project was financed by the German Embassy in the Russian Federation.
The wooden log structure made in the Vladimir region was put up here
in 1994. The ceremonial consecration of the chapel was held in 1995.
A service in memory of all who died during the World War II is held
here annually on May 9, according to Sedmitza.ru.
