Greece's church leader to undergo liver transplant in US
Athens (dpa) - Greece's Orthodox church leader Archbishop
Christodoulos will undergo a liver transplant in the United States
after being diagnosed with cancer, doctors said Thursday.
The church leader, who has been hospitalised in Athens for more than
a month, was likely to be transferred to the University of Miami
School of Medicine in Florida for surgery after August 15.
Christodoulos was examined by Greek-American surgeon Andreas Tzakis,
who is based in Florida. The decision was made after Tzakis met Greek
doctors and German specialists treating the archbishop.
