Public protests started on Holy Tuesday in Belgrade in front of the Patriarchate. Not a political event but Orthodox Christians protesting against liturgical changes introduced by their bishops. They plan to return for more protest action after Pascha.

Changes are desired in the Liturgy by the Serbian Synod and some bishops have gone ahead and mandated them in their dioceses. They includes reading the Secret Prayers aloud, keeping the Doors open during the entire Liturgy. Priests in the high profile diocese of Sumadija diocese have refused to implement the changes and they have been suspended by their bishop, in the week before Pascha - their parishes have no Holy Week and Easter Services.

Monasteries also are refusing to introduce the changes.

The faithful are protesting by picketing the Patriarchate.
