Orthodox Churches hail publication of Act on Canonical Communion

Moscow, November 1, Interfax - The Moscow Patriarchate and the
Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia have welcomed the publication
of the Act on Canonical Communion, the signing of which will mean
the complete reunification of the ROCOR and the Orthodox Church in
      Russia.

"The publication of the Act of Canonical Communion, all appendixes
to it and the joint statement "On the Results of Joint Work by the
Commissions of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox
Church Outside Russia" draw a line under an important stage of the
process toward the union of the [Orthodox] Church in the Fatherland
and abroad," Archpriest Nikolay Balashov, secretary of the Moscow
Patriarchate's commission for dialogue with the ROCOR, told Interfax
      on Wednesday.

All documents needed for the two churches' full reunification and
communication have been drafted and approved by their Synods, he
      said.

"They have yet to be officially confirmed and enacted," Father
      Nikolay said.

The Churches' unity may be fully restored in 2007, he said.
