Meeting between His Holiness, Patriarch ALEKSY II of Moscow and All Russia and His Beatitude, Metropolitan HERMAN of All America and Canada On Wednesday, July 5, 2006 during the final day of the World Summit of Religious Leaders His Holiness, Patriarch ALEKSY II of Moscow and All Russia received His Beatitude HERMAN, Archbishop of Washington and New York, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, together with the members of the official delegation of the Orthodox Church in America at the Summit, Archimandrite Zacchaeus, OCA Representative in Moscow and Archdeacon Alexei Klimichev, Archdeacon to the Metropolitan for a conversation at the President Hotel in Moscow.
During the course of the meeting His Beatitude had the opportunity to congratulate His Holiness for taking the initiative of hosting the World Summit of Religious Leaders prior to the meeting of the G8 Meeting in St. Petersburg and thank him for the kind invitation to participate in such an important historic event. His Holiness, in turn, thanked His Beatitude for making such an long journey to participate in the World Summit of Religious Leaders and expressed his fraternal love and best wishes to the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America.
Also participating in the meeting from the Russian Orthodox Church was His Grace, Bishop IGNATY of Vyazem and Archpriest Nicholas Balashov, the Secretary for Inter-Orthodox Relations of the Department of External Church Relations; and from the Orthodox Church in America and acting as translator for His Beatitude, Metropolitan HERMAN was Archpriest Leonid Kishkovsky who was attending the Summit as a member of the delegation of the World Conference of Religions for Peace.
