      Bishop Hilarion of Vienna and Austria participates in the Second
      Meeting of Board of World Religious Leaders

      On 28-30 November Bishop Hilarion of Vienna and Austria,
      Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church to the European
      Institutions, took part in the Second meeting of Board of World
      Religious Leaders, which took place in Taipei, Taiwan.

      Bishop Hilarion of Vienna and Austria participates in the Second
      Meeting of Board of World Religious Leaders On his way to Taiwan,
      Bishop Hilarion made a stopover in Tokyo, where he visited the Holy
      Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral and met with the primate of the
      Orthodox Church in Japan, Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and All Japan,
      as well as with a number of Orthodox clergy. During the meeting,
      Metropolitan Daniel presented Bishop Hilarion with a copy of his book
      `The Mystery of Faith. Introduction to Orthodox Dogmatic Theology',
      translated into Japanese and published by the Holy Resurrection Cathedral.

      The Second meeting of the Board of World Religious Leaders was
      organized by the Elijah School for the Study of Wisdom in World
      Religions and hosted by Ling Jiou Buddhist monastery. The theme of the
      meeting was `The Crisis of the Holy'.

      On 28-30 November, deliberations and discussions on the main theme
      took place in plenary and in groups. During these discussions Bishop
      Hilarion of Vienna and Austria presented the Orthodox view of holiness
      and leadership in the Church. On 30 November, special sections were
      dedicated to the theme of youth suicide, which was considered as a
      major challenge to all religions, demanding serious response.

      On 1 December the participants at the meeting visited the Museum of
      World Religions in Taipei, where a public forum took place, dedicated
      to the main theme of the meeting. The participants were greeted by a
      number of local politicians and public figures.

      The Board of World Religious Leaders includes representatives of
      Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism. Christianity is
      represented by the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew I, the
      Armenian Patriarch of Istanbul Mesrob II, Cardinal Theodore McCarrick,
      Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold (Episcopalian Church, USA), Archbishop
      Boutrous Moualem (Greek Catholic Church, Israel), Archbishop K.G.
      Hammar (Church of Sweden), Bishop Hilarion of Vienna and Austria
      (Russian Orthodox Church), as well as several other religious leaders.
      During the Taiwan meeting the Patriarchate of Constantinople was
      represented by Metropolitan Nikitas of Hong Kong and South-East Asia.
