The `Chempeduppu' Ceremony And Chandanapally Pally Perunnal

Pathanamthitta: May 4, 2005: The Church festival of St. George
Orthodox Church at Chandanapally, will be held on May 8. The festival
marked the beginning with a flag-hoisting ceremony on April 24. The I.
G.of Police, Alexander Jacob, delivered the keynote address at at the
family conference held at the church on Tuesday afternoon.
The pilgrimage groups coming from different parishes will be given a
rousing reception at Chandanapally Junction on May 7 afternoon. The
newly ordained Bishops, Gabriel Mar Gregorios, Zacharias Mar
Theophilus, Youhanon Mar Chrisostomos and Augen Mar Dionysius will be
honored on the Church premises at 5 p.m.
Perunal Qurbana will jointly be celebrated by the Catholicos of the
East, Baselius Mar Thoma Mathews II and eight other Metropolitans at
7.30 a.m. on May 8.
The Kerala Minister, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, will inaugurate a
pilgrims' meet in connection with the annual feast of St. George at 11
a.m. The Catholicos-designate, H.B. Thomas Mar Themothios, will
preside over the meet. The clergy Trustee, O. Thomas, and the MP
Chengara Surendran will also address the function.
The `chempeduppu' ceremony is a part of the feast of St. George at
Chandanapally Church festival. This ceremony will be held at 5 p.m.
The annual church festival will conclude with a holy Rassa followed by
the bringing down of the ceremonial flag the next day forenoon by the
