Report: tear gas used against Christian demonstrators in Egypt

      CWN - October 11, 2013
Hundreds of Coptic Christians took part in a candlelight vigil to commemorate the second anniversary of the Maspero demonstrations, according to multiple media reports.

In 2011, members of the Egyptian military killed 28 Christians who were protesting the demolition of a church.

Al-Ahram, Egypt’s most popular newspaper, reported that protestors at the 2013 candlelight vigil called for the execution of the generals who were leading the military two years earlier.
The Fides news agency reported that “after the vigil, protesters tried to reach Tahrir Square in procession, but their attempt was prevented by army units that dispersed the demonstration by resorting to tear gas.”
