Candidates to head Russian Orthodox Archdiocese in Western Europe (Constantinople Patriarchate) identified
Among the three candidates none is of Russian background
PARIS. Council of the Archdiocese of Russian Orthodox Churches in Western Europe (Patriarchate of Constantinople) held a meeting. The meeting was held on July 31 in Paris, reported the French Orthodox site Orthodoxie.com .
In the communique issued at the end of the meeting, it was reported that the Board approved the list of candidates who will take part in the election of the new Archbishop (? Evkarpiyskogo ?) - the head of the Russian Archdiocese of the Constantinople Patriarchate. It included: Archimandrite Gregory (Papatomas) Archimandrite Job (Getcha), Archimandrite Simeon (?Kossek?).
It is interesting to note that among the candidates for the post of head of the Russian Orthodox Archdiocese there is no cleric Russian background.
The list of candidates will be submitted to the Constantinople Patriarchate for approval by Patriarch Bartholomew I and the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople, after which it will be voted on during an extraordinary General Assembly, to be held 1-2 November 2013, after which there will be the ordinary (regular) General Assembly.
