MOSCOW. On Monday night the TV channel "Russia-1" will show a documentary film by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, "The second baptism of Rus', dedicated to the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism.

"1025 years ago in the Dnieper a new nation was born with its own special system of spiritual and moral coordinates. In a thousand years the Russian Orthodox Church has become the largest Orthodox Church in the world. And even the years of persecution of the Church, the brutal repression of priests and the faithful, harsh atheist propaganda could not kill the faith and spirit of Orthodoxy in the Russian people ", - the Synodal Information Department noted on the eve of the premiere.

The film speaks about the last 25 years of the life of the Church, its general revival in historical Russia and abroad. In a quarter-century the Russian Orthodox Church has built more than 25 thousand churches, refurbished and opened about 800 neew monasteries.

"A thousand churches a year, three churches daily. Nothing like that has ever happened before in the history of Christianity ", - emphasized the Synodal Department.

Exclusive interviews were given for the film by Patriarch Kirill, Russian President Vladimir Putin, bishops, clergy and lay people from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Estonia, Central Asia, Kazakhstan and other countries.
