On Sunday, July 21 at 12.00 in the Temple of the Holy Great Martyr Catherine's Day celebration appearance of the icon of the Mother of God of Kazan will host the opening of a memorial plaque dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the Russian Orthodox mission on American soil. The opening ceremony of the plaque is timed to the first visit to Russia of the head of the Orthodox Church in America, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada.The celebration is scheduled for:
09:30-12.00 - Beginning of Hierarchical Divine Liturgy will be headed by the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, Metropolitan Tikhon.
12.30 - Opening ceremony of a memorial plaque dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the Russian Orthodox Mission in America.
This project is an initiative of
non-profit charitable organization dedicated to the cultural and historical heritage, the foundation "FORT ROSS," headed by Nikolai Zhukov, with the blessing of the church Holy Great Martyr Catherine and the blessing Archimandrite Alexander, rector of the OCA representation in Moscow.
Scientific consultant of the project was a senior adviser to Russian Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Moshkalo.
Author of plaque is the famous sculptor Gregory Potocki, one of the founders of the Russia's Orthodox sculpture.
The opening of the bronze bas-relief plaque is certainly an important cultural and historical event, which will further strengthen the spiritual relations between Russia and the United States.
