TULA PROVINCIAL COURT FINDS LEAFLETS WITH ORTHODOX PRIEST'S MESSAGE
      EXTREMIST
SOVA Center for Information and Analysis, 13 March 2013

On 20 February 2013 the Novomoskovsk city court of Tula province found
leaflets "Orthodoxy or Death" with a speech by a priest from the village
of Ivankovo of Kimovsk district, Vasily Novikov, extremist.

This was a message Father Vasily wrote shortly before his death. At the
time of his burial in November 2010 two local residents handed out these
leaflets. The prosecutor's office identified extremist expressions in
the leaflets and sent the materials to court.

Previously, a DVD disc with a recording of Father Vasily's speech was
ruled extremist. The priest spoke out against the Individual
Identification Number and the new version of passports. He was suspended
      from the ministry.

The decision of the court took legal effect on 12 March 2013. (tr. by
