*Plovdiv.* Metropolitan bishop Nikolay of Plovdiv has announced that he
does not want to be elected Patriarch of Bulgaria. You should know that
metropolitan bishop Nikolay of Plovdiv will not violate a principle,
metropolitan bishop Nikolay said in his address to the eparchial voters in
relation with the election of delegates of Plovdiv Bishopric, Evelina
Zdravkova with the Plovdiv Bishopric told *FOCUS Plovdiv Radio*.

According to metropolitan bishop Nikolay the election of a new Bulgarian
Patriarch should take place after a wide public discussion in order to
avoid the risk of subjective decisions.

On Sunday the Bulgarian Orthodox Church held eparchial elections to select
delegates for the Patriarch Election Church Convention on 24 February.
Patriarch Maxim died on 6 November 2012 and on 24 February 2013 his
      successor will be elected.

Five representatives from each bishopric in Bulgaria will join the
convention three clergy members and two laymen. Sofia Bishopric will have
ten delegates six clergy members and four laymen.

The eparchial centers in Bulgaria select a total of 80 eparchial voters,
who will take part in the election of a new Bulgarian Patriarch. All
archpresbyters of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church (currently 14 metropolitan
bishops and 19 bishops), one representative of each of the Rila, Bachkovo
and Troyan monasteries, one monk and one nun from each bishopric and one
representative of Sofia and Plovdiv ecclesiastical seminaries each will
      also participate in the election.
