Archpastors of the Orthodox Church of Moldova joined at Synod meeting

On the 13th of November, the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova was
called to discuss current important issues of church life and plan
      further activities

The meeting was presided by the head of the Synod, His Eminence
Metropolitan Vladimir. Bishops of the Orthodox Church of Moldova,
members of the Synod: His Grace Anatolie, Bishop of Cahul and Comrat,
His Grace Petru, Bishop of Ungheni and Nisporeni, His Grace Nicodim,
Bishop of Edinet and Briceni, His Grace Marchel, Bishop of Balti and
Falesti, participated at the Synod meeting.

Among the issues included into the meeting agenda were: to institute a
Commission for the organization of festive events celebrating in 2012
      the 200th anniversary of the creation of Chisinau and Hotin Archdiocese;
to analyse the latest events in Moldovan church life; to discuss the
order of organization of diocesan meetings preparing the Republican
Church Meeting; to set priorities of pastoral-missionary activity of the
Orthodox Church of Moldova for the end of 2012 – beginning of 2013; to
present new church distinctions approved at previous Synod meeting.

As a result of Synod discussions, several decisions were made.

Thus, The Commission-in-charge with the organization of events
celebrating the 200th anniversary of the institution of Chisinau and
Hotin Archdiocese in 2013 was created, chaired by His Eminence Vladimir.

The second decision dealt with disciplinary sanctions of clergymen who
make public statements without the blessing and coordination with the
Church Hierarchy, in line with Decision No. 1 of 18th of March 2011 of
the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.

The Synod also decided to put forward issues that are to be discussed at
diocesan meetings preparing the Republican Church Meeting. These issues
will be identified by the dioceses of the Orthodox Church of Moldova,
and will be presented at the following Synod meeting.

Finally, His Eminence Vladimir proposed for discussion issues dealing
with the preparing of churches and coordination of cultural, spiritual,
and charity activities in parishes of the dioceses of the Orthodox
      Church of Moldova.

Besides, the Metropolitan presented to the Synod members the new models
of the recently approved church distinctions.
