On Oct. 31 Archimandrite Gregory (Tatsis) officially nominated bishop of the Carpatho-Russian community in the United States in the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The announcement and acceptance rite took place in the seminary church on the island of Halki reported the  French Orthodox site Orthodoxie citing the Pariarcate of Constantinople and the Carpatho-Rossian diocese in the United States.
Archimandrite Gregory will be consecrated a bishop on November 27 of this year. The consecration will take place in the USA.

Карпато-русская епархия была создана в США в 1935-37 гг. The Carpatho-Russian Diocese was established in the U.S. in 1935-37 by Uniate priests coming from Transcarpathia (presently Ukraine) who emigrated to the United States. Their transition from Greek Catholicism to Orthodoxy was caused by attempts at latinization imposed on the Uniates of the Carpathian Rusyns by the Roman Catholic hierarchy. During an Assembly, which was held in Pittsburgh, a group of Carpatho Rusyn priest and laymen decided to return to Orthodoxy, which their ancestors had professed until the middle of the XVII century They appealed to the Patriarch Benjamin of Constantinople who accepted them as an autonomour diocese within his jurisdiction.
