Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos Brothernhood's banner created with the blessing of St. Tikhon will be returned to New York's St. Nicholas Cathedral
On August 11, 2012, the birthday of St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the United States, Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk will celebrate the Divine Liturgy.
Following the service, St. Nicholas Cathedral will be officially presented with an old banner of the Nativity of the Blessed Theotokos Brotherhood which then functioned at the church. The Brotherhood was founded in the early twentieth century with the blessing of Archbishop Tikhon of North America Tikhon, the Patriarch of All Russia.
The shrine, which had been considered lost, as it turned out, had been kept in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Theotokos at St. Vladimir's Russian cemetery in New Jersey (Orthodox Church in America). At the request of Archbishop of Justinian and with the blessing of the Bishop Michael of New York and New Jersey, Archpriest John Prokopiuk, the priest in charge of the parish and its parishioners will present the banner to St. Nicholas Cathedral, according to the site of the Russian Orthodox Church in the United States .
