Conference in Krakow
- On 3rd July a conference took place at The Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences in Krakow. Its title was: Christianity and modern concepts of man. It has been organized by the of Department of Byzantine-Orthodox Culture and Institute of Russia and Eastern Europeof Jagiellonian University as well as the Dormition Orthodox parish in Krakow and the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Archbishop of Lodz and Poznan, Simon addressed a word of welcome to the participants. In his speech, his eminence stressed the importance of discussions on the man for the modern world. Conference was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies at the Jagiellonian University Professor. Assoc. Bogdan Szlachta. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church. Orthodox Ordinary of the Polish Army Bishop George presented a paper on the problems and challenges of modern family. Dean of the Faculty of International Studies Bogdan Szlachta devoted his paper to perception of the man in contemporary philosophy of politics. During the discussion panels on the metaphysics of man, the questions about man's place in the socio-cultural area, foundations of Christian anthropology, and the image of man in contemporary painting, appeared prominent theologians and scholars of anthropology from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Italy, England, and Poland.
Session on 4th July has been held in the Dormition of the Theotokos Orthodox parish on Szpitalna Street.
