Weeping Icon Called 'Miracle' By Parishoners

CLEVELAND -- Parishoners at St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church say
that an icon at the church is weeping, releasing a holy oil.

The same phenomenon happened 14 years ago at the same church located
on East Pleasant Valley Road in Seven Hills, NewsChannel 5 reported.

The congregation of the church say an image of the Virgin Mary on the
altar began weeping Saturday at about 2:30 p.m. Moisture marks, said
to be from oil, are visible on the statue.

"You can still see the shiny area," said Father Mikhail E. Mikhail,
priest at the church for 30 years. He calls the event a sign from God
      and a miracle.

The same thing happened on a Jesus icon in the church in September
1990. About 60,000 pilgrims came to view the phenomenon, some of them
from overseas. Moisture stains can still be seen on the icon from
      that event.

Father Mikhail says the church is open to anyone wanting to come view
the weeping icon, during regular business hours on weekdays and
      church services Friday and Sunday.
