      Two Orthodox (UOC-MP) Bishops Ordained Archbishops
      07.31.04 (RISU.org.ua) – Kyiv – On 28 July 2004, Metropolitan Volodymyr
      (Sabodan), head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate
      (UOC-MP), ordained two UOC-MP bishops as archbishops: Anatolii (Hladky) of
      Sarny and Polissia (northern Ukraine) and Bishop Ioann (Siopko) of Khust
      and Vynohradiv (southwestern Ukraine's Transcarpathia region).

      Archbishop Anatolii (Hladky) was born in the Khmelnytsk region, central
      Ukraine, on 28 June 1957. He graduated from the Leningrad Theological
      Seminary and the Leningrad Theological Academy. In 1982 he was ordained
      deacon. In 1992, in the Kyiv Monastery of the Caves he took monastic vows
      and was named ihumen (father superior). Episcopal ordination took place on
      28 October 1993.

      Archbishop Ioann (Siopko) was born in Rivne, (northern Ukraine), in 1964.
      In 1987 he was ordained a priest. From June 1991 to December 1993 he served
      in the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. On 29 December 1993 he was
      received into the UOC-MP. On 31 December 1993 he took monastic vows. On 13
      December 1996 he was ordained bishop.
